Pruning: An essential gesture at the heart of winter

Winter is a key period in vineyard work. It is the season of pruning, a precise and thoughtful gesture that already shapes the coming harvest.

In these photos, we are in an Aligoté parcel located in Mellecey, where secateurs have punctuated much of our days in recent weeks. Pruning involves selecting the canes that will carry the future shoots and managing the vine’s vigor to encourage balanced growth in the spring.

This patient work, carried out vine by vine, requires observation and experience. Each vine is different and calls for particular attention to preserve its structure and longevity.

Pruning was completed in early February, marking an important step in the vine’s cycle. The vineyard can now gradually move toward the end of winter, before the vines awaken in the weeks ahead… 🌿
